What is classic van insurance?
Classic van insurance is a specific policy that covers vans of a certain age or era. So if your van is very old or of particular value, standard insurance policies might not provide an adequate level of protection. Instead, you need some additional cover.
How old does a classic van have to be to get insurance?
It’s important to check this with individual providers but typically a van has to be over 25 years old to be considered as a classic van.
What type of cover can I get for my classic van?
You can choose between third party, comprehensive or third party, fire and theft (TPFT). The most basic is third party and covers you against the cost of damage to other people, their vehicles and their property. TPFT includes this and if your van is stolen or damaged by fire. Finally, comprehensive includes all of this and if your van is accidentally damaged.

Usually, vans are more expensive to insure than cars because they have bigger engines and are bigger in size. Often, this means that they’re carrying more cargo so claims are likely to cost more.
