Privacy Policy

Please read our privacy policy carefully as it describes our use of your personal information. You should show it to any other person insured to drive your car as it explains how we use all the information we have about you and any other people insured under your policy.

Apricot Insurance Services Limited respects the privacy of visitors to our website. We are registered as a data controller in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Sensitive Personal Data

Some of the personal information that we ask you for is known as “sensitive personal data”. This may include information about health problems, and criminal convictions. We need to use this data to provide you with quotes, arrange and manage your policy and to provide the services described in your policy documents (e.g. dealing with claims).


While completing our online quote forms and speaking to our staff you will be asked to provide us with an email address. It is your responsibility to ensure that this email address provides you with adequate security. Please keep us and your insurer informed of any changes in correspondence address, telephone number, email address or any other contact details.

Sharing Information

We may share your information with your insurer, Seopa Ltd (trading as Quotezone and CompareNI) or other comparison websites (where you have used such sites in relation to your policy) and with our IT providers respectively where applicable and where required in respect to facilitating your insurance arrangements.

We will share your information with your insurer to arrange and administer your insurance policy (for example issuing renewal documents and information to you and managing claims). We and your insurer will also use your data to evaluate your insurance presentation and may provide information to credit reference agencies.

We and your insurer may be required to share your data with other insurers, business partners, regulatory authorities, or agents providing services to us or your insurer:

  • to place your policy
  • to manage your policy (including claims handling)
  • for credit scoring purposes
  • to prevent or detect crime
  • if we are required to or permitted to do so by law (for example, upon request from the police); and/or
  • if you have granted your permission
Preventing and detecting crime

We and your insurer may use your personal data to prevent crime by:

  • checking your information on your insurer’s and our own databases
  • sharing your information with fraud prevention agencies; if inaccurate or false information is provided and fraud is identified, your personal data may be passed to fraud prevention agencies to prevent fraud and money laundering.
  • sharing it with operators of registers available to the insurance industry to check information and prevent fraud. These include the Claims and Underwriting Exchange Register and where applicable the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register. We and your insurer may pass information relating to your insurance policy and any incident (such as an accident, theft or loss), to these registers.
  • (for Motor Insurance only) sharing it with the Motor Insurance Database (MID) which may be used by fraud prevention and law enforcement agencies. Dealing with other people on your behalf

To make it easier to manage your insurance policy, we will deal with you or your husband, wife or partner or any other person who it would be reasonable to believe is acting for you if they call us on your behalf in connection with your policy. This is subject to them answering some security questions. For your protection only you can cancel your policy


We may use your personal information and information about your use of our products and services for marketing and to carry out research to help us meet your needs.

For marketing purposes, we reserve the right to share your personal information with selected business partners for them to contact you about products and services we think may be of interest to you; we will only share your information in this manner with your permission.

If you fail to complete an online quote we may contact you to see if we can offer you any help.

We may ring you about any quotes that you receive from us

We may send you information via email, email, SMS, traditional post and/or telephone in accordance with your wishes.

If you do not want us to use your personal information for marketing or research and analysis, please write to us or telephone us using the number shown on any of our letters.

Monitoring and recording

We may record calls for training purposes, to improve the quality of our service and to prevent and detect fraud.

The website

You may visit our website without providing us with any personal information. Sometimes we may need information from you, including your internet address, so that we can track unique visits to our site to review issues such as who visits and why they visit.


We may use cookies in our email communications. A cookie is a small text file sent to your computer. We use cookies to personalise the email and track whether the email has been opened or read and whether the recipient has used any website links contained in the email communication. This allows us to monitor and improve our email communications and website.

Our website uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to enhance security when entering sensitive data while requesting an online quote. SSL is the industry standard technology for protecting and maintaining the security of message transmissions over the internet. When you enter sensitive data from secured sites, encryption will scramble your data into an unreadable format to discourage unauthorised access by others.
